Someone asked, “What do Buddhists worship?”

Buddhists generally don’t worship anything.  Buddhism teaches that right conduct, wisdom, and meditation can enable people to achieve happiness. Followers of Buddhist philosophy can remain with their given religion. Buddhism can seem confusing at first, especially if you come from a Christian, Islamic or Jewish background.  Also, Buddhism in the various traditions can differ quite a bit, so it is easy to lose track.

Question:  Is Buddhism based on faith?

Nothing in the Dharma should be taken on faith.  If the message doesn’t make sense to you, then simply disregard it.  As in the ancient Buddhist text, ‘Question everything’ and avoid relying on faith. The Buddha put it this way: “Only when it agrees with your experience and reason, and when it is conducive to the good and gain of oneself and all others, then one should accept the teachings, and live up to them.”

Robert Thurman compares Buddhism to “medicine” and Buddha as a “doctor” . httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5cZITQDTrE
